10 DAYS TOUR FROM TANGIER TO MARRAKECH BY CHEFCHAOUEN AND MERZOUGA DESERT
Day 1: TANGER – CHEFCHAOUEN
From the riad where they are lodged we will begin or from the airport or seaport we will begin this 10 day route whose first destination will be Chefachaouen, in the Rif.The mountainous north of Morocco, the Rif possesses a great botanical interest and being inhabited by Berbers rifeños. This area has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and mild summers which turns the whole area into an orchard. Its slopes are plagued by Berber villages full of life, we can admire all the villages and how life in these mountains. Arrival in Chefchaouen, also called Chaouen or Xauen, a charming village located between two mountains and surrounded by fields of crops that highlight even more the indigo blue and white of their houses. Day 2: CHEFCHAOUEN – FEZ
After breakfast we will continue in the direction of Fez, Imperial City and religious and cultural center of the country, we will arrive at mid-afternoon where we will be able to take a first contact with this city from an exceptional viewpoint located in one of its hills.
Day 3: FEZ
:Our local professional guide will show us the thousand and one details of this city. The medina of Fez is the largest in the Maghreb, with its labyrinthine streets. In order to appreciate it, we will visit it during the day, but then, at sunset, it also changes completely, during the day it is a bustling city full of people wandering around the shops, shopping or just watching, but at sunset it acquires another, more relaxed dimension.
Day 4 : FEZ – IFRAN – AZROU – MIDELT – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA
:After breakfast we will leave for the desert of Merzouga, we will cross the mountains of the Middle Atlas where beautiful and surprising landscapes await us, we will cross the locality of Ifrane “The Moroccan Switzerland”. Due to its altitude (1.630 meters) is surrounded by cedars, in fact, we will enter the Cedros Forest, we will see its “friendly” settlers: the Barbería monkeys, we will cross the entire volcanic geological area of Azrou and, little by little, the landscape begins to change again leaving behind the trees and their greenery and becomes an arid landscape.Our route will continue through the amazing canyon of Ziz and then its valley with about 9000 palm trees, we will arrive at the riad located at the foot of the desert where we will have a welcome tea while we prepare the dromedaries to go into the dunes until we reach the camp of jaimas, at night we can see that the desert turns color and low temperature.
Day 5: DUNAS DE ERG CHEBBI – GARGANTAS DEL TODRA – OUARZAZATER
We recommend today a small effort and getting up early to see how the sun appears between the dunes. The camels will bring us back to the riad for breakfast. Now the adventure will continue with the city of Rissani and its famous market, this city is the last commercial stop before the desert, its atmosphere is very different from what we have seen until now, we will continue towards the Gorges of the Todra River, very appreciated by climbers, a place to take a walk and also enjoy the curious emergences of the river, after this visit we will continue towards Ouarzazate by the Route of the Thousand and One Kasbahs. Before we continue to the Valley of Roses very well known for the massive cultivation of roses, Finally, we arrive in Ouarzazate where we spend the night.
Day 6: OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH
In the morning we visit the very interesting Taourirt Kashba and a fortified palace where to get lost in their rooms connected by labyrinthine corridors and stairs. From the top of its towers we will have a panoramic view of the medina, then visit one of the most amazing places in Morocco, the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, one of the best preserved and declared World Heritage by UNESCO, in the afternoon continue to Marrakech, crossing the mountain pass of Tizi’n Tichka, the highest point of this route will be 2,280 meters so we enjoy extraordinary landscapes. Arrival in Marrakech and accommodation.
Day 7: MARRAKECH
:The famous Jemaa el Fna square will welcome us together with our local guide who will speak the same language as you and will introduce us to the wonders of “the red city” among them we highlight the Menara Gardens.the Saadi tombs, one of the most visited places in Marrackech, were opened to the public in 1917 when they were discovered. In the same garden you can see more than 100 tombs decorated with mosaics, in them are buried the bodies of servants and warriors of the Saadi dynathy.the palace of the Bay, eLa Koutobia, one of the most representative monuments of the city, stands out for its minaret 69 meters high, the tallest building in the city.the places to visit depend on the time of year due to permanent maintenance and restoration works. Day 8: MARRAKECH – CASABLANCA – RABAT
Our road will continue towards Rabat passing through Casablanca, located to the west of Morocco is the largest city and it is also the most important port of the country, is considered the most important economic and commercial center of the country with a very important heritage including places such as the Mosque of Hassan II, the Arab League Park, the Old Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, the Villa des Arts Museum, Mohammed V Square, with its Andalusian-inspired façades, the old Medina, the Central Market… The Old Medina of Casablanca can only be visited on foot and is the real heart of the city, surrounded by its walls with bastions dating from the 16th century, its network of small narrow streets. Day 09: RABAT – ASILAH
Rabat known as “The City of Gardens”, is a perfect combination of ancient and modern city, one of the most dynamic and commercial cities of the country where is one of the most famous monuments of Morocco “The Tower of Hassan” located on top of a hill that is part of the city. You will be able to enjoy Rabat at your own pace during the morning today, as in the afternoon we will follow the route to Asilah where we will make a visit to the Caves of Hercules, pass by Cabo Espartel, and continue to the Caves facing the Atlantic are flooded during the high tides.Ashilah is one of the strong points of Moroccan tourism in the north. The walls surround the small city full of labyrinthine streets dressed in white and blue, is one of the most beautiful medinas of the Atlantic, its bohemian and avant-garde airs cover art, poetry and painting walls.We will be able to discover a gastronomy where the freshest fish returns in small boats every midday, and where the time stops in the peace of the alleys embroidered of silence and embraced by its wall that protects them during the bad weather of the Ocean.Accommodation in hotel.
Day 10: ASILAH – TANGER
In the morning we will leave towards Tangier to transfer you to the port/airport or place where you indicate us.
