13 days tour from Casablanca to Marrakech via Volubilis, Fez and the desert of Sahara

Day 1: Casablanca

On arrival at the airport, our escort driver will take you to your accommodation and from there begin a guided tour of the city: visit to the surroundings of the majestic and highest Mosque of Hassan II and the city with its boulevards full of Art Deco facades.

Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Volubilis – Fez

After breakfast, an excellent highway will take us north to the nearby capital of Morocco, Rabat, to visit the highlights: the Alcazaba of Oudayas, The Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Tower of Hassan, from there we continue the route to the Roman city of Volubilis where we will make a guided tour. We will finish the day in Fez. Accommodation.

Day 3: Fez

Your local Fez guide will come to your accommodation to start a guided tour. Fez has managed to maintain its traditions, its crafts, its trades, and its university, one of the oldest in the world. Not in vain, Fes was considered as “the city of Faith and Knowledge”, becoming the capital of culture and one of the most important religious centers of the country. we will visit its medina, called the Bali, one of the largest medieval sites in the world and declared patrimony of humanity by UNESCO, with its souks and alleys, we will also visit the Royal Palace and its Jewish quarter.

Day 4: Fez – Ifrane – Imilchil – Gorges of the river Todra

After breakfast, we will head south, passing through the university town of Ifrane, the breadth of its avenues, its urban development, its impeccable state of cleanliness, its gardens and green areas, and especially its architecture, more typical of an Alpine city, make Ifrane feel out of place within Morocco and has earned the nickname “the Swiss Moroccan”. Then we arrive at the village of Imilchil, where the annual Marriage Festival is held, declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It is a celebration that commemorates the legend of two young bride and groom who received family authorization to marry. We will continue the way until arriving at the Gorges of the river Todra.

Day 5: Todra Gorges – Tafraoute – Ouzina Desert

Today the route will take us through countless small Berber villages to reach the track of the old Paris-Dakar rally, which we will use to reach the Ouzina desert, our destination and enjoy our first night of silence and stars in the desert. Dinner and overnight in the Riad Ouzina TGM, your home at the desert.

Day 6: Ouzina – Taouz – Desert of Merzouga

In the morning we will leave in the direction of the desert of Merzouga, passing through several border villages between Morocco and Algeria. Upon arriving in the desert of Merzouga, we will change our vehicle for the camels that will take us to the camp of tents to spend a magical night among the dunes and live the experience of sleeping under an impressive starry sky.

Day 7: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud

After breakfast, the camels will take us back to the vehicles to go to Rissani. These city watered by the Ziz and located next to the ruins of the historic Sijilmasa, cradle of the Alaoui dynasty is known to be the largest city this part of the desert where they make their purchases more than 500 villages in the area. Rissani, is also known for its traditional local market where. Then we will visit the fossil quarry in Erfoud and return to the hotel located at the foot of dunes. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Merzouga – Khamlia – Merzozuga

After breakfast, visit to the nomads and oasis around Merzouga. We will stop in the village of Khamlia, whose inhabitants have their origins in Mali and are heirs to a spiritual music that is beginning to be appreciated everywhere, the Gnawa music. Return to the hotel at noon to rest. Accommodation and farewell dinner in the desert at the rhythm of drums.

Day 9: Merzouga – Alnif – Tazarine – Nkob – Draa Valley – Agdez – Ouarzazate

The early risers will be able to get up early to enjoy the sunrise among the dunes. Then we will start again the route to Ouarzazate, passing through the villages of Alnif, the oasis of Tazarine, Nkob and the Draa Valley, a landscape full of contrasts, palm trees and colors. Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 10: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou

In the morning we will visit the city of Ouarzazate and its Kasbah Taourirt. Then we will go to the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou. This place has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and a stroll through its narrow streets will give us an explanation of why. An authentic architectural jewel, made of adobe, surrounded by an overwhelming atmosphere next to the river Ounila.

Day 11: Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

We will start our journey towards Marrakech crossing the Atlas through the port of Tizi N’Tichka (2,260m), until arriving in the afternoon to the city to the east.

Day 12: Marrakech

Our local guide will pick you up after breakfast at the riad to start a complete visit to the city from Jemaa el Fna Square to countless places to walk through such as the Majorelle Gardens, Menara Gardens, Saadies Tombs, the Bay Palace or the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter.

Day 13: Marrakech

Transfer to the airport. End of route
