5 days tour from Fez to Marrakech Via Sahara desert

Day 1: Fez – Merzouga

Beginning of the tour in the place designated by you, airport, lodging, etc.

We will depart southwards to cross the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach Ifrane, known as “the little Moroccan Switzerland” because of the great resemblance of many of its constructions with those found in the Alps.

When we arrive at Azrou, we will see its great cedar forests, we will be able to admire the Great Cedar Gouraud, the biggest millenary cedar of the region and also to observe its colony of Berbería macaques.

Lunch in Midelt or Rich, in the afternoon we will arrive at Ziz Valley, more than 20 km. of palm grove and 10 million palm trees makes it one of the largest in the world.

Arrival in the desert of Merzouga. We will join a caravan of camels to enter the heart of the dunes and contemplate an unforgettable sunset.

We will arrive with the camels to the camp where we will lodge in fully equipped tents with private bathroom inspired in the ones that in the past were used by the nomads.

Dinner and night in the heart of the desert under a spectacular blanket of stars.

Day 2: Merzouga desert – Ouzina desert

After breakfast we will begin the great route of the dunes, through the track of the old Rally Paris Dakar . We will visit the Khamlia village where we will stop to enjoy the music of Gnawa, a spiritual music of great beauty, probably inherited from the ancient black settlers enslaved in sub-Saharan Africa.

We will continue the route towards the Taouz village where we will re-enter the Paris Dakar Rally track in the direction of the Erg of Ouzina and the village of Ouzina. Ouzina is an old Berber settlement very close to the Algerian border.  Then we will go to the dunes of the Erg of Ouzina where we will stay in the Riad Ouzina TGM, your home in the desert.

After dinner, Berber music with live drums, an unforgettable experience.

Day 3: Ouzina – Ouzina Erg – Ouzina people – Nomadic culture in the Sahara

For the early risers we propose to see sunrise between the dunes. After breakfast, we will go to the town of Ouzina to learn more about the way of life of its inhabitants. We will visit the bread oven and its orchards. We will eat “Berber pizza”, maybe we can get a henna tattoo if someone wants and in the afternoon we will see the fossil mines.

Then we will return to the Ouzina desert to try to find an authentic nomadic family and have tea with them.

Dinner and overnight at Riad Ouzina TGM

Day 4: Ouzina – Berber villages – Ramlia – Tafraoute – Alnif – Tinghirir – Dades Gorges

We will leave the Riad Ouzina TGM towards the village Ramlia, we will follow the same track of the Rally Paris Dakar. On the way we will be accompanied by desert landscapes full of dunes, nomads and camels for about 3 hours until we reach Alnif and the Toldra Gorges near the town of Tinerhir.

At the end of a valley of palm trees and adobe villages, surrounded by steep and barren mountains. It is one of the most famous natural views of Morocco, about 300 meters of wall along one kilometer. From here we will head to the Dades Gorges.

Dinner and overnight in a hotel or riad located in the Gorges.

Day 5: Dades Gorges – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After breakfast we will head towards Ouarzazate, passing through the wonderful Valley of the Roses, with a spectacular landscape of oases and ancient Kasbahs, many of them abandoned.

We will arrive in Ouarzazate, the city of cinema where there are film studios, which we will be able to visit.

We will know the Ksar, or fortified town, the oldest in Morocco named World Heritage, the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, where films like Gladiator or The Kingdom of Heaven have been filmed.

We will continue, crossing the High Atlas mountains, by a mountain pass of 2260 m.

In the afternoon we will arrive in Marrakech.
