15 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech by Sahara desert

Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen

Reception at the port or airport of Tangier and start the route to the Rif mountains to reach Chefchaouen in the afternoon. Chefchaouen, a berber city whose name means “the horns”, is located in a beautiful location, where the contrast of white and blue color of their houses arranged on different levels stands out on the green field irrigated by the river Lau. Day 2: Chefchaouen – Fez

Breakfast, free visit to the city, then departure to the city of Fez. Founded in the eighth century. is the oldest of the Moroccan imperial cities, with a medina that takes us to the thirteenth century, with artisans grouped by streets and activities reminiscent of the ancient guilds, living with peasants fleeing the drought of recent years, come here. Night in a clasical riad.

Day 3: Fez – Volubelis- Meknes – Azrou – Midelt, Middle Atlas

In the morning guided tour of the city. Its architectural richness, its fascinating medina and its magnificent historical monuments make fez the cultural capital of Morocco. After lunch, we will approach the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Walk through the Roman city and arrival to Meknes, guided visit to the city: the tomb of Moulay Ismail, the square Hedime, Bab Mansour. After the visit to Meknes we will undertake route towards the Middle Atlas to reach Midelt, the gate of the Atlas. Night and dinner in Midelt.

Day 04: Midelt – Errachidia – Merzouga

Today we will leave Midelt to reach Merzouga, our final goal today. we will cross the cedar forest, the volcanic area of Azrou, the port of Midelt, the impressive canyon of the river Ziz, the city of Erfoud, prelude to the desert.We will attend the sunset on the top of the Borj d’est which offers a wonderful landscape over the town of Erfoud, then we will follow the track at night to reach the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Overnight stay in a riad by the desert

Day 5: Erg Chebbi, Merzouga

After breakfast, we will cross the dunes by sand tracks and enjoy the 2 oasis of Merzouga.We will visit the nomads in their tents, the village of Khamlia (majority Malian village), the mines of Mifiss, the desert plateaus, the oasis of Tissardmine, return to the hostel at about three o’clock in the afternoon, then mounted on camels, we will head towards the dunes to watch the sunset and sleep in a wild oasis located two hours away, in the heart of the dunes. Night in a desert camp in a luxury tent with private bathroom.

Day 6: Merzouga -Nomadas- Rissani – Merzouga

On our way back from the desert, we’ll take the track to TAOUZ to discover the prehistoric engravings, then we’ll go to RISSANI the ancient Siljimassa, an important centre on the caravan routes that traded in Mali and Niger, with salt and slaves. At noon, we will eat the speciality of the city: Saharan pizza. After lunch, we will visit the fossil quarry and return to the hostel and accommodation.

Day 7: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

We will go from the dunes in the direction of Erfoud to reach Tinerhir where we will visit the “fougartas” (ancient 15th century pipes), the palm grove of Tinhgir. We will arrive at the gorges of the todra where we will have lunch. After lunch, we will cross the city and the Dades valley to reach the gorges of Dades where, over time, the river has eroded the rocks to form a peculiar landscape. Dinner and overnight in a classical riad.

Day 8: Dades Gorges- Boutaghrar- Skoura -Ouarzazate

Departure in the morning by track towards the Valley of Roses and the beautiful Berber village of Boutghrart where we will have a tea with a family. we follow the track by the route of the Thousand Kasbahs, this stage we will do it by an unusual route in the most touristic circuits.We will make several stops in places as interesting as Kasbahs, panoramic views, spectacular valleys, caves inhabited by nomads, etc.Arrival at the village of Skoura where we will leave the track and again take the asphalt to the City of Ouarzazate, famous for its film studios, dinner and accommodation.

Day 9: Ouarzazate – Telouet – Marrakech

Visit the splendid kasar declared World Heritage by Ait Ben Haddou where films like Laurence of Arabia, The Mummy, etc. were shot. Then we will cross the Valley of Ounila until we reach Kasbah de Telouet. At the end of the afternoon, we will return to Marrakech by one of the most beautiful ports of Morocco, the port of Tizi n’Tichka, 2260 m high, with its wonderful landscapes. Night in a riad in Marrakech.

Day 10: Marrakech

Visit the city of Marrakech with its ancient medina, its main historical monuments (tombs and mosques), its kasbahs, its famous square Jemaa el Fna. No doubt, we will realize that Marrakech is the capital of tourism by the amount of foreign or domestic visitors that we find through its streets. Night in a riad in Marrakech

Day 11: Marrakech – Essaouira

Morning a walk through the new part of Marrakech and after lunch departure to the small fishing port of Essaouira, ancient Mogador, located on the south coast, with more than 11 kilometers of beach. Dinner and Accommodation.

Day 12: Essaouira

In the city, you can see the wooden crafts museum located in an old palace, the old watchtower and the Skala of the port, from where you can contemplate the coast, the islands and the whole city, the Puerta de la Marina, which communicates the port with the city or attend the auction of fish in the port.The intricate streets of the medina are the interesting showcase for the work of jewelers, goldsmiths and marquetry craftsmen (cedar and ebony), installed in the underground workshops of the bastions of the city, in whose upper part we can still see some Spanish cannon of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

Day 13: Essaouira – Safi – Rabat

Breakfast and departure, along the coast to Rabat, administrative and political capital of the country.

Day 14: Rabat – Larache – Asilah

After breakfast, and continuing along the coast, we will continue our route towards Asilah, jewel of Hispanic-Morisco architecture.Asilah is a small town and fishing port, which developed under the Spanish protectorate. It is surrounded by ochre walls of the Portuguese wall and its houses, with doors and windows in blue, green and yellow, contrast with the white of its walls. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 15: Asilah – Tangier 

Breakfast and transfer to Tangier. End of trip.
