8-day route from Marrakech to the desert of Ouzina and Merzouga

Day 1: Marrakech

Arrival at the airport

Transfer to your accommodation in the city’s medina

Day 2: Marrakech

Breakfast. Our official local guide will pick you up at your accommodation to begin a complete guided tour in Marrakech

Rest of the day free to walk around the medina, shop or have tea on one of the many terraces with views of life in the square

Day 3: Marrakech – High Atlas – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

After breakfast, we will leave Marrakech at the agreed time in the direction of the High Atlas mountains, we will make small stops along the way to get closer to the beautiful landscapes and authentic Berber villages.

Once we cross the High Atlas, we will enter the Ounila Valley to visit the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a 13th century fortress classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. As a curiosity, in this place where many great movies were filmed such as Gladiator, The Kingdom of Heaven, and many more.

Then, along the route of the thousand kasbahs, we will continue our way to the town of Boumalne Dades where we will have dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Dades Gorge – Tinerhir – Todra Gorge – Tinjdad – Jarf – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

Breakfast. Now we will go to the city of Tinerhir to discover its surroundings full of kasbahs and the impressive gorges caused by the Todra River. Here we will take a walk inviting you to discover its sources or upwellings.

After this visit we will continue towards the Sahara desert in Merzouga, passing through Berber villages on the way such as Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud where we will begin to feel the beginning of the Sahara oasis in Tafilalet and continue towards Merzouga.

Upon reaching this magical environment, we will ride some dromedaries to the tent camp located inside the dunes where we will spend the night in luxury tents in the dunes with private bathrooms.

Day 5: Merzouga – Taouz – Ouzina dunes

Today we suggest you get up early and watch the sunrise in this unique place before having a delicious breakfast.

Today’s route will take us along the old track of the Paris Dakar Rally to the Ouzina desert. On the way we will visit villages like Kkamlia where its inhabitants still keep a spiritual music called Gnawa.

Now we will continue towards the desert until we reach the town of Ouzina. We will make a visit that will show us how its inhabitants live, how they share the communal oven and how they cultivate their garden in almost impossible places. After this visit we will look for a nomadic family of those who live in the middle of nowhere, we will have tea with them and we will enjoy their lives so different from ours and that will make us know a little about the culture of the nomads and how they live in the desert

We will say goodbye to the family and we will go to Riad Ouzina TGM, their second home in the desert where we will stay and have dinner and breakfast. The Riad Ouzina TGM has recently been named the only Starlight Riad in the world by the Foundation of the same name.

Day 6: Ouzina – Ramlia – Alnif – Tazarrine – N´Kob – Ouarzazate

Breakfast. Today we will leave for Ouarzazate passing through many of the sections that were covered during the old Paris Dakar Rally

We will finish the track as we enter the road through Alnif, Nkob, and the impressive, from a geological point of view, Draa Valley

We arrive in Ouarzazate in the afternoon. Dinner and night in a riad in Ouarzazate

Day 7: Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will continue the way back to Marrakech.

We cross the High Atlas, crossing the highest port in Morocco, the Tiz’n Tichka at 2,260 meters above sea level, which offers impressive views of the valleys, mountains and Berber villages. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon.

Day 8: Marrakech

Breakfast. At the agreed time, transfer to the airport
