Day 1: Marrakech
Welcome to “The Red Pearl of the South: Marrakech” At the arrival of your flight our guides will welcome you to take you to your riad.
Day 2: Marrakech, cultural visit
After breakfast, our local official guide will pick you up to know the most important, monumental, cultural and historical areas of Marrakech. When the visit is over, you will have free time to walk around Marrakech, a good time to take advantage of and practice the art of haggling. We recommend a stroll through the streets, labyrinths and passageways of Marrakech to discover new alleys where, although it seems strange, you will realize that tranquility and silence is only a step away from the busy Jmaa Square on
Day 3: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Zagora
After breakfast, start of the journey to the Great South. We will cross the High Atlas, which is the highest and most extensive mountain range in Morocco, crowned by the Tizi-N-Tichka summit at 2,260 meters of altitude. This route is also known as the Ruta de los Pastos, and has impressive mountain landscapes. We will stop at Ait Ben Haddou, and visit its Ksar, one of the best preserved in all of North Africa and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator or the Kingdom of Heaven have been filmed here, after which we will arrive in Ouarzazate and make a panoramic visit of the city, located on top of a large plateau and also known as the Hollywood of the African continent. Ouarzazate was a former military garrison and today is the administrative capital of the Drâa Valley. We will follow our way along the so-called Oasis route and cross Ait Saoun and its 1,660 metre mountain pass, Tizi-N-Tinifft. Its orography evokes impressive lunar landscapes. 200 kilometers of palm groves make this route one of the most beautiful in Morocco. Formerly this valley was crossed by countless commercial caravans from Black Africa. We arrived at Zagora, considered the gateway to the desert as indicated by its sign “Toumbuctu 52 days”.
Day 4: Zagora – Old Rally Paris Dakar track – Ouzina Desert “198 Km desert track”
We begin our second day of travel in southern Morocco. This journey will allow us to discover the splendour of the palm grove of the Draa river. In addition, this day we will cross a spectacular stage, by the track that was used in the Rally Paris-Dakar. We will cross the desert area of the Draa valley and the plateaus of Oumjran. We will pass through a multitude of Berber villages and visit the hamadas and Ergs of the black desert. In the afternoon we arrive at the dunes of Erg Ouzina where we will be able to contemplate the sublime sunset from the great dune, and later we will go down to our lodging that this located in the middle of desert, the Riad Ouzina TGM.
Day 5: Desert of Ouzina – Ouzina Village – Khamlia – Dunes of Erg Chebbi – Merzouga
In the morning we leave towards the town of Ouzina where barely 14 nomadic families live in houses of mud and adobe. We will visit the bread oven and finish with a family tea. Then we will continue to the village of Khamlia or “the black people of Mali”, a stop to enjoy their African percussions that make up Gnawa spiritual music. Now we will go to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, where we will make the great Tour of Erg Chebbi. In the afternoon we arrive at the lodging and we exchange the 4×4 for our camels on which we will go to enjoy the sunset and spend the night in the middle of the dunes, dinner and lodging in Berber tent camp.
Day 6: Erg Chebbi – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Toca get up early to enjoy the sunrise at the top of the great dune. After breakfast we return with the camels to our hotel to shower, pick up our things and continue to Rissani. A walk through the economic capital of southern Morocco visiting its authentic and colorful souk. Then, we will continue towards the Todra gorge, a spectacular valley formed by rock walls that reach 300 m high, a walk worthwhile for this area. Now we will continue towards the beautiful surroundings of the Dades Valley.
Day 7: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Kasbahs Valley – Marrakech
Today, our final destination will be Marrakech, but before we have seen the beautiful valley of Roses. We will see some famous kasbahs such as kasbah Itrane and Kasbah Amridil. Then we will return to the port of Tichka to Marrakech. Transfer to your riad.at sunset is a good time to climb to one of the panoramic terraces of the Plaza de Jmaa el Fna and observe the hustle and bustle of this city always awake: funambulists, snake charmers, storytellers … endless mix of people, we will spend a fun day. Transfer to your riad.
Day 8: Marrakech transfer
At the agreed time, we will pick you up at your riad and take you to the airport.
