Tour 8 days from Marrakech to Fez via desert of Merzouga and Ouzina

Day 1: Marrakech

• Arrival at Marrakech airport. Reception by your accompanying driver and transfer to your riad. Depending on the arrival time of your flight and the time of year, visit the city with a local guide. Accommodation in riad recommended by Family Morocco Tour

Day 2: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges

• After breakfast we will cross the High Atlas through the Tizchka port of more than 2,260 meters above sea level. Next, in the Ounila Valley, we will visit the ksar, or fortified town, of Ait Ben Haddou, the oldest in all of Morocco, named a World Heritage Site. A spectacular place where films such as Gladiator or The Kingdom of Heaven have been filmed, among other famous productions
• We will continue towards Ouarzazate and, later, through the wonderful Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, with a spectacular landscape of oases and old kasbahs, many of them abandoned. Finally, we will reach Boumalne Dades where we will have dinner and overnight

Day 3: Dades Gorges – Tinghirir- Alnif – Tafraoute – Ramlia – Berber Villages – Ouzina

• Breakfast. We will leave Boumalne Dades to Tingherir where we will visit the Gorges of the Todra River that are located at the end of a valley of palm trees and adobe villages, surrounded by steep and barren mountains. It is one of the most famous natural sights in Morocco, about 300 meters of wall along a kilometer
• After the visit we will return to Tingherir to, through desert landscapes, reach Alnif and linking up with the track of the old Paris Dakar Rally to reach the town of Ramlia and Ouzina, our final destination. Accommodation and dinner at Riad Ouzina TGM, our accommodation and your home in the desert. Recently nominated as the only Starlight riad in Africa by the Foundation of the same name, due to its dedication to sustainable tourism and stargazing

Day 4: Ouzina – Erg de Ouzina – Nomadic culture in the Sahara

• For the early risers we suggest watching the sunrise between the dunes. After breakfast, we will go to the town of Ouzina to learn more about the way of life of its inhabitants. We will visit the bread oven, its orchards. We will eat “Berber pizza”, maybe we can get a henna tattoo if someone wants it and in the afternoon we will see the fossil mines
• Then we will return to the Ouzina desert to try to find an authentic nomadic family and have tea with them. Dinner and overnight at Riad Ouzina TGM

Day 5: Ouzina Desert – Merzouga Desert

• After breakfast we will start the way to the great route of the dunes, again, through the track of the old Paris Dakar Rally. We will visit the Khamlia village where we will stop to enjoy the music of Gnawa, a spiritual music of great beauty, probably inherited from the ancient black settlers of sub-Saharan origin
• We will continue the route to the town of Merzouga where some dromedaries will be waiting for us to take us to the luxury tent camp with private bathroom. Dinner and night in the heart of the desert under a spectacular blanket of stars

Day 6: Merzouga – Fez

• For the early risers we recommend watching the sunrise in the desert. Then, after a delicious breakfast, we will return to the 4×4 to head towards the Middle Atlas
• We will see the Palmeral del Ziz and its spectacular valley. Then we will reach the Azrou Cedar Forest, inhabited by a large colony of Barbary macaques, until we reach Ifrane, known as “the little Moroccan Switzerland” due to the great resemblance of many of its buildings with those found in the Alps. Later, in the late afternoon, we will arrive in Fez
• Transfer to accommodation

Day 7: Fez

• Breakfast. Your local Fes guide will come to your accommodation to start a guided tour. Fez has known how to maintain its traditions, its crafts, its trades, and its university, one of the oldest in the world. Not surprisingly, Fes was considered “the city of Faith and Knowledge”, becoming the capital of culture and one of the most important religious centers in the country
• We will visit its medina, called Bali, one of the largest medieval sites in the world and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, with its souks and alleyways, we will also visit the Royal Palace and its Jewish quarter. Rest of the day free

Day 8 : Fez

• Breakfast. At the agreed time transfer to the airport
