11 days from Marrakech to Sahara desert by Imperial cities and Chefchaouen
Day 1: Marrakech
Arrival at Marrakech airport. Our guide will take you to your accommodation next to Yamaa el Fna Square. Riad Maialou or similar.
Day 2: Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat
Breakfast. Transfer by motorway to Casablanca. Upon arrival, visit to the environment of the majestic and highest Hassan Mosque in the world. Continuation of the route until Rabat, to visit the most outstanding places: the Alcazaba of Oudayas, The Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Tower of Hassan. Dinner and overnight at Riad Zyo or similar.
Day 3: Rabat – Chefchaouen
Breakfast. We will leave towards the northwest to reach the city of Chefchaouen. Upon arrival, we will climb to a viewpoint and see why its beauty and location. Then we will go down to the medina where you can walk through it. Accommodation and dinner at Riad Dar Chaouen or similar.
Day 4: Chefchaouen – Fez
Breakfast. After spending the morning in Chefchaouen we will head to Fez where we will arrive in the afternoon. Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Palais Houyam or similar.
Day 5: Fez
Breakfast. Your local Fez guide will come to your accommodation to start a guided tour. Fez has managed to maintain its traditions, its crafts, its trades, and its university, one of the oldest in the world. Not in vain, Fes was considered as “the city of Faith and Knowledge”, becoming the capital of culture and one of the most important religious centers of the country. we will visit its medina, called the Bali, one of the largest medieval sites in the world and declared patrimony of humanity by UNESCO, with its souks and alleys, we will also visit the Royal Palace and its Jewish quarter. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Palais Houyam or similar.
Day 6: Fez – Merzouga
Today we will depart for the south. Among the wonders that we will find are found: Ifrane, known as Moroccan Switzerland, the Cedros de Azrou forest with its curious settlers, the volcanic region of Azrou, the magnificent rocky valley of the river Ziz as well as its immense palm grove. Continuation of the trip to Merzouga.
Day 7: Merzouga
After breakfast, we will visit the surroundings of Merzouga and Erg Chabbi, the great dune. We will visit villages such as Khamlia, where descendants of former slaves of sub-Saharan Africa reside and who have maintained their traditions through a spiritual music called Gnawa that we will also enjoy. We will see more Berber villages and traditions. Afterwards, camels will lead us to the camp where we will have dinner, listen to traditional Berber music and sleep in luxury tents with private bathroom.
Day 8: Merzouga – Boumalne Dades
After breakfast, the camels will take us back to the all-terrain vehicle to continue our route. We will stop in the town of Rissani to visit an interesting local market that provides supplies to more than 600 towns around the desert. Now we will continue to Tinerghir to visit one of the most beautiful geological cuts of the Middle Atlas and then we will visit another beautiful place in the gorges of the Dades river.
Day 9: Boumalne Dades – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
In the morning and after breakfast, we will continue along the Thousand Kashbas Route to Ouarzazate. From this city, known for its great film studios, we will take the course of the river Ounila, there we will visit the Kasar of Ait Ben Haddou, declared World Heritage by UNESCO and whose interest fully justifies the visit to this area of the Altas. Once again the Ounila valley will lead us to the Kashba Taoulet, another historic and beautiful place and last visit before arriving in Marrakech. Accommodation at Riad Maialou or similar.
Day 10: Marrakech
Breakfast. Our certified local guide will pick us up at our accommodation to take us to Marrakech, known among other ways as the red city and containing places like the Majorelle Gardens, the minaret of the Koutoubia mosque, the Saadies Tombs and the Bay Palace, many of which will be visited. We will have lunch in a classic restaurant near Jmaa El-Fna Square and in the afternoon we will have free time to visit the beautiful and famous medina. Accommodation in Riad Maialou or similar.
Day 11: Marrakech – airport
Breakfast. Morning free for a walk in the medina, for example. At the agreed time and place, transfer to the airport to take your flight back.
