6 days tour from Fez to Marrakech to Sahara desert

Day 1: Fez – Merzouga

Meeting with your driver at the right place, airport, hotel or accommodation in Fez.

We will head south across the Middle Atlas Mountains to Ifrane, known as “the little Moroccan Switzerland” because of the great alpine resemblance of many of its houses.

We will cross the great cedar forest of Azrou, where we will be able to admire the Gran Cedro Gouraud, the biggest millenary cedar of the region and to observe the extensive population of macaques of Berbería that inhabit in the zone.

Lunch in Midelt or Rich and in the afternoon we will arrive at Ziz Valley, more than 20 km. of palm grove and 10 million palm trees makes it one of the largest in the world.

Arrival in the desert of Merzouga. We will leave in a caravan of camels to enter the heart of the dunes and contemplate an unforgettable sunset.

We will arrive with the camels to the camp where we will stay in tents, traditional berber tents fully equipped with private bathroom.

Dinner and night in tents in the heart of the desert under a spectacular blanket of stars.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert – Ouzina Desert

After breakfast we will begin the great route of the dunes, passing through the desert by the track of the Paris Dakar Rally.

We will visit the Khamlia village where we will stop to enjoy the music of Gnawa.

We will continue the route towards the village Taouz where we will return to enter the track of the Rally Paris Dakar in direction to the Erg of Ouzina and the village of Ouzina. Ouzina is an old Berber settlement very close to the Algerian border.  Then we will go to the dunes of the Erg of Ouzina where we will stay in our Riad Ouzina TGM, his home in the desert.

After dinner, Berber music with live drums, an unforgettable experience.

Day 3; Ouzina – Erg de Ozuina – Town of Ouzina – Nomad Culture

For the early risers we propose to see sunrise between the dunes. After breakfast, we will go to the town of Ouzina to learn more about the way of life of its inhabitants. We will visit the bread oven and its orchards. We will eat “Berber pizza”, maybe we can get a henna tattoo if someone wants and in the afternoon we will see the fossil mines.

Then we will return to the Ouzina desert to try to find an authentic nomadic family and have tea with them.

Dinner and overnight at the Riad Ouzina TGM.

Day 4: Ouzina – Berber villages – Ramlia – Tafraoute – Alnif – Tinghirir – Dades River Gorges

We will leave the Riad Ouzina TGM towards the village Ramlia, we will follow the same track of the Rally Paris Dakar.

On the way we will be accompanied by desert landscapes full of dunes, nomads and camels for about 3 hours until we reach Alnif and the Toldra Gorges near the town of Tinerhir.

At the end of a valley of palm trees and adobe villages, surrounded by steep and barren mountains. It is one of the most famous natural views of Morocco, about 300 meters of wall along a kilometer where we can also observe the emergences of the river Todra.

From here we will go to the Dades Gorges.

Dinner and overnight in a hotel or riad located in the Gorges.

Day 5: Dades Gorges – Rosas Valley – Ouarzazate

After the breakfast we will go in direction to Ouarzazate, passing by the wonderful Valleys of the Roses, a spectacular landscape of oasis and ancient Kasbahs, many of them abandoned we will follow toward the Valley of Dadès until the kasbah of Aït Youl where we will take a track that will allow us to admire the kasbahs and the ksar to continue to Kelaa M’ Gouna, a population dedicated to the commercialization of all the products derived from the culture of roses.

We will have lunch and we will continue towards the palm grove of Skoura, to arrive then to Ouarzazate.

Dinner and accommodation.

Day 6: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, we spend the morning visiting Ouarzazate, Taourirt’s kasbah, outside of perhaps the world’s largest film studios. Afterwards, we will visit the oldest Ksar in Morocco, named World Heritage Site, Ait Ben Haddou, where films such as Gladiator, The Kingdom of Heaven…

We will continue, crossing the mountains of the High Atlas, by a mountain pass of 2260 m. In the afternoon, we will travel to Marrakech via the port of Tizi N’ Tichka, and visit the Argan oil cooperative, where we discover the production process and we will explain the many benefits it has for the human body.

Arrival in Marrakech late afternoon.
