8 days tour from Casablanca to Marrakech by Sahara desert
Day 1: Casablanca – Meknes – Fez
After breakfast, we leave towards the capital of Morocco, Rabat, to visit the most outstanding places: the Alcazaba of Oudayas, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Tower of Hassan, from there we continue the route to Meknes, where we will make a visit with our local guide. Continue to Fez. Accommodation.
Day 2: Fez
Your local Fez guide will come to your accommodation to start a guided tour. Fez has managed to maintain its traditions, its crafts, its trades, and its university, one of the oldest in the world. Not in vain, Fes was considered as “the city of Faith and Knowledge”, becoming the capital of culture and one of the most important religious centers of the country. We will visit its medina, called the Bali, one of the largest medieval sites in the world and declared a world heritage site by UNESCO, with its souks and alleys, we will also visit the Royal Palace and its Jewish quarter.
Day 3: Fez – Middle Atlas – Azrou – Merzouga Desert
Our route will start from Fez to the desert via Ifrane, also known as the Switzerland of Morocco, the cedar forest of Azrou where we will stop to enjoy seeing the macaques of berbería, we will continue to the Palmeral de Ziz and its gorges. We will continue to the city of Erfoud, famous for being the capital of fossils and reach the desert of Merzouga to stay in a riad next to the dunes.
Day 4: Desert of Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomadic culture – Erg Chabbi
After breakfast we start the grand tour of the dunes, passing through many desert villages until we reach Khamlia where we enjoy Gnawa spiritual music. Afterwards we will follow the nomads route and discover a way of life that does not leave impassible, in the afternoon the camels will take us to the camp of tents to spend the night among the dunes under a clean and overwhelming firmament.
Day 5: Erg Chabbi – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades and Roses Valley – Ouarzazate
The early risers will be able to see the beautiful sunrise from the top of the dunes. Then we will ride the camels to reach the vehicles and continue the route to Ouarzazate via Rissani where we will stop to visit its traditional Souk considered the largest in all southern Morocco where 367 villages around their shopping, continue to Todra Gorges, Dades Valley, Roses Valley and Skoura oasis and palm grove.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast and before continuing to Marrakech we will visit the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, take a walk through its narrow and steep streets and enjoy its overwhelming beauty. In addition, many films have been shot here, including Sahara, The Kingdom of Heaven, Cleopatra and Gladiator. Then, we will continue the route towards Marrakech on the high atlas mountains via the port of Tizi N’tichka. We will see beautiful views dotted with Berber villages and farms, arriving in Marrakech late in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7 :Marrakech
Breakfast. Your local guide will pick you up at your accommodation to start a guided tour of this beautiful city. Marrakech has the largest traditional market in the country and one of the busiest squares in Africa and the world, Jemaa el Fna. The city also has places like the Majorelle Gardens, the Menara Gardens, the Saadies Tombs, the Mellah (the old Jewish quarter) or the walls. Dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Marrakech airport
Transfer to the airport. End of your trip and until next. Optionally it could be again the airport of Casablanca.
